All of us are shocked and dismayed at the recent closure of yoga studios, dine-in restaurants and any gatherings that expand outside your household – once again. How will we ever be able to heal as a collective if we are restricted from being together?
This whole situation has brought us to our knees in so many ways – my biggest concern is the mental health repercussions of it all. While we are all at different comfort levels, and this pandemic has brought about more differences than religion, I think we can all agree that it’s time to DO something.
Let me say this up front: we all have a different opinion about what should be happening in terms of public health and safety right now. I’ll be completely honest, I believe that the restrictions and lockdowns may possibly do more harm than good at this point. Judging by what I’ve witnessed working with the public in all the capacities that I do, most people are not heading out in public if they are not comfortable with the risk. Those who are uncomfortable have so many helpful resources at their fingertips, from grocery delivery to working from home to online workshops and activities.
So many businesses are suffering from the lack of foot traffic, and while many business owners have found ways to pivot, the stress is overwhelming and very real. Most people in general don’t have the coping skills necessary to handle ongoing stress, let alone the realities of mask mouth, travel and gathering restrictions.
I know that I’m not alone when I say I am Frustrated.
How Can I Help?
I certainly don’t have the skills or knowledge to explain this situation on a scientific level, however I can see all the angles it is creating on a spiritual level. We don’t get to see peoples’ faces, which leads to a lack of connection and trust. We are asked not to make physical contact, which includes handshakes, hugs or pats on the shoulder. There are so many people who were lacking physical touch already, and a small touch can change a person’s outlook almost immediately.
From my years of teaching yoga, I always know that if I am feeling something very strongly, there is a good chance that others are too. While I have been resisting offering online sessions of any kind, I do feel it’s quite necessary at this moment.
I will be offering group healing sessions through Zoom on the dates/times below. I will work personally on each participant, as well as doing healing work for all of us as a collective.
