The seven chakras are the collection of energy centers you have in your body. They govern your emotions in certain ways. When they are all activated, you feel good.
You feel confident, clear, happy, and at peace. If one of them is out of alignment, you will sense a lack of balance in your life. There are many ways we can keep our chakras balanced and activated.
One of the these holistic means is meditation for the 7 chakras.
Learning how to unblock the chakras is more about understanding what is happening in your body. Energy flows through you from the source. This energy can become blocked if something happened in your outside world that caused you to somehow shut down.
Your chakras might have been shut down since you were quite young, especially for those who experienced something traumatic. As we are often governed by our feelings, we feel the heart chakra blockage most of all. Our root chakra is often in jeopardy of being blocked because in this day and age, it’s a challenge to feel calm and grounded.
A chakra meditation can allow you to mindfully allow the energy from source to come in to your body and break through the blockages. This allows the energy to flow through you which will help you to feel better.
The seven chakras are each represented by a color. They are as follows.
Root Chakra (Muladhara) – Red
Sacral Chakra (Svadhishthana) – Orange
Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) – Yellow
Heart Chakra (Anahata) – Green
Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) – Blue
Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) – Indigo
Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Violet
You’ve probably realized at this point that they are the colors of the rainbow, a natural flow of colors we can see in the sky when we’re lucky.
Each of these colors can be found in nature. Red cherries, orange, the sun, the sky, and the grass are some of the representations of colors that correspond with your chakras.
Visualizing colors as you focus on the light coming into you and healing your 7 chakras is a powerful and effective way to heal your mind, body, and soul. Even better is when you can lay in the grass to open your heart chakra or look up at the sky to open up your ability to connect to source through your crown chakra. Whether you visualize or submerse yourself, connecting yourself to the colors of the chakras is powerful for healing.
Meditation isn’t so difficult but the ego mind doesn’t want any part of it. You may not realize that you are separate from the constant chatter going on in your mind. It’s just the voice of your past trying to protect you from dangerous situations. You have allowed it to take over your outward experiences and so it became, you.
As soon as you begin to meditate, you begin to learn that you really sit in a higher place than the voice trying to run for your life. Listen to the voice, but don’t feed into the stories. If you start to feel tension, just pay attention to it and breathe into it. It should begin to move around or maybe even disappear completely.
In Chakra meditation, you most often work from the bottom to the top. Once your mind becomes calm, focus on your root chakra first, located at the very base of your spine. It’s important to always work on your root chakra so you can ground yourself. This is true of any spiritual practice.
As you sit cross-legged and have settled in to mindfulness, breathe in and imagine that a golden light is starting at your feet. As you exhale, open your mouth and feel the hot air.
On every inhale, imagine the light flowing up your legs and eventually to your first chakra, the root chakra. Continue to breathe the hot air out of your mouth.
As the golden light works on the chakras, try to visualize a dark energy leaving your body through your mouth.
When the light is at your root chakra, envision that it’s circling around the are in a counter clock-wise direction. Imagine that it’s cleansing the area and that you can see the root chakra glowing a brighter red during each in breath. You are cleaning the chakra with your intention and when you breathe out, you get rid of the darkness that was covering the color.
When you feel like you’ve sufficiently cleansed the root chakra, you can imagine a red lotus flower circling in front of the root chakra counter clock wise. I will discuss the lotus flower and it’s significance to the 7 chakras in my course.
Move up to the sacral chakra and continue on with the solar plexus chakra, heart chakra, throat chakra, third eye chakra, and crown chakra.
Mindfulness meditation is not about changing or altering yourself in any way. It’s about becoming aware of who you are.
When you sit quietly, things will come up. As you look within, you’ll know which of your seven chakras is in need of cleansing and activating. This is really the best spiritual gift you can give yourself, being your own guide and knowing what you need.
